- Download the latest version of the FortiClient Support Tools
- login to https://support.fortinet.com
- If needed, select "Check City" as the client whose system you want to get into
- At the top of the page, click the "Support" pull-down menu, then click "Firmware Download
- In the product pulldown menu select "Forticlient"
- Click the "Download" tab.
- Click the the "Windows" directory, and then continue clicking on the latest versions of sub-directories. As of the writing of this article the latest were: "v7.00", "7.2", "7.2.1".
- Locate the "FortiClientTools" download and click the "HTTPS" link to download them.
- Copy the downloaded .zip file to the computer that you want to remove FortiClient from and extract the files.
- Reboot the computer into Safe-Mode (This part will require you to have console access or to walk a user through these steps) {Teamviewer may offer a reconnect option if the user chooses "Safe-Mode with networking"}
- Hold down the "Shift" key and click the start menu and choose "Power" then "Restart"
- Select the "Troubleshoot" option.
- Select "Advanced Options"
- Select "Startup Settings"
- Select "Restart"
- After the computer reboots, select "Safe Mode with Networking"
- Now that the computer is in Safe Mode you will need to login.
- Open the FortiClientTools folder, then open the SupportUtils sub-directory.
- Double-click and run the "FCRemove" utility.
- Click "OK" on the warning that pops up.
- After a few seconds you will see a new file appear in that directory called "fcremovelog". When you see this new log file you can restart the computer and FortiClient will be removed.
